Final electoral roll published in Udupi

There are a total of 9,90,773 voters in the district

Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis said recently the final electoral roll had been published and displayed in all booths in the five Assembly constituencies of Udupi, Byndoor, Kundapur, Kaup and Karkala in Udupi district.

Addressing presspersons here, Ms. Francis said that the final electoral roll had also been displayed at the taluk offices, Assistant Commissioners’ offices and also the website of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The booths would have names of voters connected to those particular booths only. As the per final electoral rolls, there are a total of 9,90,773 voters in the district including 5,13,523 men and 4,77,243 women, as on January 1, 2019.

The total number of voters in the five Assembly constituencies are: Byndoor – 2,22,542 voters (1,08,252 men and 1,14,290 women); Kundapur – 2,00,101 voters (96,164 men and 1,03,937 women); Udupi – 2,05,566 voters (99,598 men and 1,05,968 women); Kaup – 1,81,178 voters (86,308 men and 94,807 women); and Karkala – 1,81,386 (86,921 men and 94,465 women). As many as 10,723 voters had been added to the roll, while 7,099 names had been deleted. As many as 3,374 voters applied for correction to particulars in the roll, while 755 applied for transposition of an entry in a different place of the same Assembly constituency. As many as 4,793 young voters had registered in the district.

Those whose names had not been included in the voters list or electoral rolls could still get their names registered in it. It would be included in the supplementary electoral rolls, she said.

The National Voters Day will be held in the district on January 25. Ms. Francis handed over the revised electoral rolls to the representatives of various political parties at the District Offices Complex here.
