Congress demands dismissal of BJP government

The Udupi district unit of the Congress has urged Governor H.R. Bhardwaj to dismiss the B.S. Yeddyurappa-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

In a memorandum to Mr. Bhardwaj and submitted to the Additional Deputy Commissioner T.M. Prabhakar here on Monday, Udupi District Congress Committee president K. Gopal Poojary said the BJP government had violated all norms and conditions for democratic rule provided by the Constitution. The State government followed fascist policies and wanted to retain power by hook or crook , he said.

Congress leaders Pramod Madhwaraj, Vasanth Salian, Manjunath Udyavar, Ashok Kodavoor, Amrith Shenoy, Veronica Carnelio, and Bhaskarrao Kediyoor were present.
