City Centre mall on K.S. Rao Road here was closed for nearly four hours on Thursday following a fire in the chimney of the food court on the fourth floor. There was no casualty or injury.

The fire was noticed around 12 noon. When thick smoke engulfed the fourth floor and other areas, people rushed out of the mall in panic. Fire and Emergency Services personnel from Pandeshwar and Kadri fire stations rushed to the mall and extinguished the blaze.

Regional Fire Officer G. Thippeswamy said firemen created a vent on the fourth floor and used a blower to clear the smoke. The operation got over by 2 p.m. The mall management then cleaned the area and reopened the mall for visitors at about 4 p.m.
