Talk on Nehru

The former Primary and Secondary Education Minister B.K. Chandrashekar will be delivering a talk on ‘Nehru’s Political Thinking – Its Relevance Today’ at the Mangala Auditorium at Mangaluru University on May 14 at 10.30 a.m. The talk will be organised by the University’s Nehru Chintana Shaikshanika Samiti. Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor K. Byrappa will be presiding over the programme.

AIR music contests

The All India Radio will be holding competition at the station level and then at Chennai and New Delhi to select young singing talents. The contest will be for youth aged between 16 and 24 years. The contest will be in Hindustani Classical, Carnatic classical and light music sections. The contest is open for instrument-alists too. The preliminary round will be held between August 3 and 28, followed by contests in Hindustani music in Delhi and Carnatic music at Chennai. Health camp

As many as 250 persons attended the free health camp organised by the newly opened Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre at Addoor on Monday. Specialists from surgery, general medicine, orthopaedics, paediatrics, dental, ophthalmology and psychiatry fields attended to the patients, a release said.
