Bidar Utsav from February 17

Bidar Utsav will be celebrated on February 17, 18 and 19, Deputy Commissioner Sameer Shukla announced here on Monday.

The utsav will be held in three venues, he said.

The main stage will be put up inside the Bidar fort; cultural programmes will be held in the Rang Mandir and the ‘mushayara' will be held in the Mahmood Gawan Madrassa, Mr. Shukla said during a preparatory meeting.

Apart from various cultural programmes, the utsav committee will organise bodybuilding, wrestling, and other competitions, Mr. Shukla said.

Competitions for calligraphy, swimming and tennis will be introduced this time.

Competitions will also be held for children, he said.

Apart from the Utsav souvenir, a coffee table book about Bidar's cultural heritage titled ‘Bidar through monuments' will be released, he said.

Selection trials for cultural programmes will be held in the taluks. Various committees have been formed to conduct the utsav, Mr. Shukla said.

MLAs, Superintendent of Police N. Satish Kumar, zilla panchayat chief executive officer Jitendra Naik, members of resident welfare associations and cultural groups were present.
