Six persons assaulted near Belthangady

Six persons from Chikkamagaluru were beaten up allegedly by a group of people in Kajuru village, near Belthangady, on Thursday evening for taking bath in a temple pond linked to the Netravathi.

Mohammed Misbah and five others from Akshaya Nagar of Balehonnur in Chikkamagaluru district had come on a pilgrimage to a mosque in Kajuru village. On Thursday evening, they entered the pond linked to the Netravathi near Kolli temple.

A group of people from Kajuru village saw these pilgrims and rushed towards the pond. They rained blows on Misbah and five others. On a complaint by Misbah, the police have registered a case of assault against Surendra Poojary and other members of the group.
