Routes of private buses changed

January 14, 2011 02:18 pm | Updated 02:18 pm IST - Udupi:

The district administration has changed the routes of private express and shuttle buses arriving from and leaving to Kundapur from here.

A press release issued here on Thursday stated that private express and shuttle buses from Kundapur entered Udupi through Karavali Junction and Bannanje. Henceforth, the buses would have to pass through Karavali Junction, Ambalpady Circle, Brahmagiri Circle, Ajjarkadu, Jodukatte, Taluk Office, Kavi Muddanna Road and reach the Service Bus Stand.

Shuttle buses leaving Udupi for Kundapur would use the same route in the reverse direction.

However, express buses leaving Udupi for Kundapur would take the Bannanje-Karavali Junction route and join National Highway 17, the release said.

An order to this effect had been issued by Deputy Commissioner P. Hemalatha, the release said.

This decision had been taken as people going to the District Government Hospital, Taluk Office, District Treasury, Circle Police Office and Ambalpady temple faced inconvenience owing to buses entering and exiting Udupi through the Bannanje-Karavali Junction route, the release said.
