City Police Commissioner M. Chandra Sekhar has sought a report from a police inspector attached to the Konaje police station on the reported attempt by members of a right-wing organisation to assault a boy and girl in a lodge in Deralakatte on Monday.

It was reported in the media that the members of the right-wing group went to a lodge after learning that a boy and girl, both from different communities, were meeting there.

The Konaje police, who were tipped-off, went to the lodge and managed to send the group away.

The police found that the boy was studying for B. Pharm in a college in Deralakatte and was staying at the lodge. The girl, who is his relative, had come to meet him after attending an interview in Manipal. Parents of the two knew that the couple were meeting each other. No case has been registered in Konaje station.
