The Mumbai-based Saraswat Bank, which has 183 branches across six States, will soon be introducing an emergency finance scheme through its designated 24-hour branches.
The bank launched this scheme to its customers during the opening ceremony of four branches here on Saturday. Under the scheme “Apatti Nirvahan Hana Yojana”, to be operational in a month’s time, customers will be able to avail loans up to Rs. 50,000 from designated round-the-clock branches. The scheme aims at reaching the people in distress, especially during emergencies such as hospitalisation at mid-nights.
The customers, who will not be ale to withdraw adequate funds from ATMs will benefit from the scheme. It will be first introduced in Mangalore, according to the bank’s chairman, E.K. Thakur. He told presspersons here on Friday that the bank would open a few more branches in Bangalore to increase its presence in the State capital. The bank’s four new branches have come up at Bhavanthi Street, Chilimbi, Mannagudda, and Kodialbail.
