Minister for Women and Child Welfare and Kannada and Culture Jaimala said on Wednesday that ₹ 7 crore had been sanctioned for the construction of the District Ranga Mandira along with Rangayana here.
Speaking to presspersons here, Ms. Jaimala, who is also district in-charge Minister, said that one acre and 37 cents of land had been provided by the district administration for the Ranga Manidra at Adiudupi near the APMC Yard. The Department of Kannada and Culture had provided ₹ 2 crore for the construction of Ranga Mandira here in the first phase. The construction work of the Ranga Mandira would start soon, she said.
The State-level Rajyotsava awards would be presented soon. Already, her department had submitted a list to the Chief Minister’s office. These awards could not be given on November 1 as the Model Code of Conduct for the by-polls was in force, she said.
AYUSH Hospital
Earlier, Ms. Jaimala inaugurated the District AYUSH Hospital building, CT scan facility, Solid and Liquid Resources Management (SLRM) Unit and a mortuary on the District Government Hospital premises. She also laid the foundation stone for Ophthalmic Out Patient Department (OPD) on the same premises.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Jaimala said that she would urge the State government to upgrade the District Government Hospital here. Though it was named as District Government Hospital, the facilities being provided were still of Taluk Government Hospital here.
She hoped that the people would take advantage of the 10-bed AYUSH Hospital. Ayurveda treatment such as Shirodhara was in great demand. Such a treatment would be available to the people free here.
The SLRM Unit inaugurated here showed the commitment of the district administration to promote cleanliness. The new Ophthalmic OPD would be constructed here at a cost of ₹ 1 crore and it would be ready in about 10 months, she said.
K. Raghupati Bhat, MLA, Dinakar Babu, president of the Zilla Panchayat, Priyanka Mary Francis, Deputy Commissioner, Madhusudhan Nayak, District Surgeon, Rohini, District Health and Family Welfare Officer, were present.
