A 23-year-old youth, identified as Asinkumar, son of Govardanan of Chinna Chokkikulam here, allegedly ended his life by jumping into the Vaigai dam on Friday.
Asinkumar did engineering in a Chennai college and remained unemployed.
Vexed over this, he had left home on Thursday for Vaigai dam and sent an SMS to his father stating that he had decided to end his life. On being alerted by his father, Fire and Rescue Services personnel conducted a search in the dam area on Thursday evening till it became dark and resumed the exercise in the morning and fished out the body.
It was sent to Theni Government Medical College for post-mortem. Andipatti police are investigating.
