Youth done to death

Sundarapandi (25) of Jeeva Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar in Subramaniapuram, was done to death by some persons in a case of revenge act here on Tuesday.

Police said that when the victim was coming to meet his friends near Subramaniapuram first street, the assailants stopped him and pulled him down with a hidden weapon.

He died on the spot. As the news spread at around 8 a.m., chaos prevailed in the thickly populated locality until the arrival of police. A senior police officer who visited the spot said that Sundarapandi's family was involved in rearing pigs and a few months ago, one in his family reportedly figured in the murder of a youth in Jaihindpuram.

Police teams have been formed to nab the murderers. The body was sent to Government Rajaji Hospital for post-mortem.

Suicide

A middle aged man from a small hamlet near Melur in Madurai district was found hanging near the flag mast pole in Armed Reserve Grounds in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police said that preliminary probe suggested the identity as Baskar. He had reportedly left home three days ago.

He was working as a cook. The reason for leaving home and for ending his life was not known immediately.

The police have also not ruled out the possibility of murder.

The Tallakulam police are investigating.
