Foreman sustains 60% burns in fire accident

In yet another fire accident in Virudhunagar district, a 58-year-old foreman of an amorces unit was seriously injured at Sitharajapuram here on Wednesday.

The police said that M. Muthuramanujam of Vadapatti was involved in measuring chemicals for the next day’s work at National Paper Cap factory when the chemicals caught fire due to mishandling at around 4.30 p.m.

He sustained 60% burns and was rushed to a private hospital in Madurai. Fire and Rescue Services personnel put out the flames.

The Sivakasi Town police are investigating.
