A 55-year-old woman hacked her husband to death with the ‘assistance’ of three men in Paramakudi on Thursday night and a 33-year-old man allegedly strangulated his wife to death at Chinna Nagachi near here on Friday after family feuds.

Police said Pandiammal, 55, of Balan Nagar in Paramakudi, allegedly murdered her husband Muniyandi, 60, a mike set operator, on Thursday night at her home after the deceased, who came home drunk, picked up a quarrel with her.

When he started beating her, she went out and reported the matter to three men who were standing near her house. The trio who were also in an inebriated condition, retuned with her and hacked Muniyandi to death, police said.

While Pandiammal surrendered before the police at the town police station soon after the incident on Thursday night, police arrested two men Pandi, 26 and Karthik, 24, who allegedly assisted Pandiammal in the murder on Friday. Jayakumar, the third person, who was also involved in the murder, had gone absconding, police said.

In another incident at Chinna Nagachi near Sathirakudi, a 33-year old man, identified as P. Chandira Raja, a daily wage worker, allegedly strangulated his wife Sivagami, 26, to death, using a nylon rope. Police said the deceased was living in her mother’s house with her two children after separating from her husband when the accused entered the house and allegedly murdered her, police said.

The victim, who was sleeping with her two children, was found dead on Friday morning and the accused had absconded, police said. The accused has not harmed the children, aged six years and four years, police added. A special team has been formed to nab the accused.
