Seeking to redress the grievances of the public on matters concerning the police and provide them instant relief, Superintendent of Police V. Varun Kumar has announced weekly public grievance redressal day on Tuesdays.

The police redressal and petition hearing camp would be held between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday at the conference hall in the second floor at the District Police Office (DPO). The SP would preside over the camp in the presence of DSPs from all the sub-divisions in the district, a police press release said on Monday.

The police also announced that general public could also meet the SP on week days from Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and present petitions. Those who could not come in person could reach the SP through 94899 19722 or through Hello Police at 83000 31100, the release said.

Similarly, elderly people, differently abled, visually challenged, pregnant women and those who could not climb stairs to reach the second floor for the special camp could wait at the ground floor after leaving their petitions with the receptionist. The SP would come down and receive the petitions and conduct a personal enquiry, the release added.

Mr. Varun Kumar, who assumed office as SP on November 7, had said he would strive to redress the grievances of the public as and when receiving petitions from them and personally enquire into crimes against women and children, especially cases booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
