Water level in Periyar dam on Tuesday stood at 140.50 feet (maximum permissible level is 142 ft.) with an inflow of 2,795 cusecs and a discharge of 2,300 cusecs. In Vaigai dam, the level was 69.32 ft. (71 ft.) with an inflow of 2,954 cusecs and a discharge of 2,354 cusecs. Combined storage in Periyar credit was 10,589 mcft.

Rainfall recorded in various places during the 24 hours ending at 6 a.m. on Tuesday was (in mm): Peranai 63, Thaniyamangalam 35, Kodaikanal 24.6, Sathiyar dam 20, Maruthanadhi dam 15, Andipatti 11, Mullaperiyar dam 8.8, Kuppanampatti 7.6, Viraganur 7, Madurai 6, Sothupparai dam 5, Gudalur 4.7, Pulipatti 4.6, Shanmuganadhi dam 4.5, Manjalar dam and Chittampatti 4 each, Thekkadi 2.6, Melur, Uthamapalayam and Veerapandi 2 each, Kallandiri 1.5 and Idayapatti 1.
