Seeking restoration of power supply to their area, residents of Nagari village near Kallandhiri on Alagarkoil Road submitted a representation to Collector T. S. Rajasekar at the grievance redressal meeting here on Monday.

N. Sundaram, a resident, said 30 families were residing on that street. They had built their houses on poromboke land but had ration cards with the Kizhakku Theru address. There was electricity supply to their households till 2014. Suddenly, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited men came and disconnected the power supply. The Collector must look into the matter and ensure that power supply is restored in our area soon, he said.

M. Kamu, another resident, said ever since the power supply was disconnected, students were the worst-affected since they could not study after dusk. Moreover, when darkness engulfed their street, it posed security also, she said. “My 23-year-old daughter and teenage sons are unable to study at home at night,” she said.
