Residents from the SC colony of Kaladipatti, near here, on Monday petitioned the Collector, seeking drinking water facility for the colony.

They complained that the drinking water problem in the village had not been solved even after repeated complaints lodged with the village panchayat and the block development officer of Reddiarchatram Union.

“There is a borewell and with small tank in the village that are lying in a sordid state. The water has turned hard and salty, making it unfit for drinking. There are around 150 families living in this hamlet,” they said.

Residents from Kurumbapatti near Balasamudram in Palani taluk submitted a petition to the Collector seeking basic amenities in their village.

The village is home to 700 families belonging to different communities but lacks toilet facilities, drinking water pipeline and streetlights, they said.

“The drinking water pipeline is in a bad shape since a very long time, leading to wastage of water. There are no streetlights in our village and no toilet facility. We had submitted petitions to the town panchayat office earlier but no action has been taken,” said Kalimuthu, a villager.
