Two women who were injured in a fire accident on Saturday while involved in cracker making in a house at Thayilpatti near Sivakasi succumbed to injuries. Their relatives refused to accept the bodies demanding a compensation of Rs.5.20 lakh for each of the victim. While Sathyavani (35) died at the Government Hospital here on Saturday, K. Pachaiammal (55) breathed her last on Sunday morning.

The relatives of the deceased (the woman and her niece) demanded the employer, Karuppaiah, to pay compensation. However, police said that since Karuppaiah was remanded in connection with the fatal accident at the illegal cracker unit, his family members claimed that they were helpless. Revenue and police officials held talks with the relatives till late on Sunday evening.
