Two women lose gold chains

Two incidents of chain-snatching were reported under Karimedu police station limits on Monday in which the victims lost over eight sovereigns of gold.

The police said that in the first incident, M. Pandiammal (65) of West Ponnagaram was returning home from her son’s house in the locality.

As the woman was walking in Motilal First Street, an unidentified person snatched her five-sovereign gold jewellery, and took to his heels, around 11.30 a.m.

In the other incident, R. Rajeswari of Pillaimar Street was returning home from computer class when two motorbike-borne men snatched her over three-sovereign jewellery.

The woman was walking in Sahaya Matha Street around 3 p.m. when the incident took place. Both the accused were sporting helmets, the police said.

Karimedu police are investigating into both the cases.
