Two women lose chains

Two women, who were riding motorcycles, lost their gold chains weighing over eight sovereigns, in separate incidents on Tuesday late evening.

Police said that S. Murugeswari (46), working in a college, was returning home on a two-wheeler when two persons who followed her on a motorcycle, yanked her three-sovereign chain at Tiruppalai around 6 p.m. The alert woman held on to a part of her chain.

Tallakulam police are investigating.

In the other incident reported on Palam Station Road, K. Pramila (42) was followed by two bike-borne persons on the Yanaikkal bridge while she was returning to her house at Tiruppalai after shopping.

The pillion rider suddenly pulled her seven-sovereign gold chain and tried to flee.

The woman chased the duo till the road overbridge at Thathaneri where one of two allegedly brandished a knife and threatened her and sped away.

Sellur police are investigating.
