Two engineering students were killed in a road accident involving a two-wheeler and an autorickshaw on Usilampatti-Madurai highway at Usilampatti on Sunday.

Usilampatti police identified them as S. Ruben, 21, of Usilampatti and K. Mohammed Taufiq, 22, of Coimbatore, who were pursuing mechanical engineering at a college near Srivilliputtur. The duo had come to attend a function at the house of a relative of Ruben.

While returning to the college on a two-wheeler, the rider lost balance and they fell down. Within a few seconds, a speeding autorickshaw hit them, killing them on the spot.
