Members of Tamil Nadu Revenue Officials Association (TNROA) have sought the appointment of Personal Assistant (Elections) in all 32 districts and raised questions over the delay.

S. Parthiban, general secretary, TNROA, said that revenue officials were assigned to this post at least two months ahead of every election. The post remained vacant in 23 districts, he said.

The TNROA was unable to understand the cause of delay in appointing PA (Elections). Mr. Parthiban said that 98 eligible tahsildars were awaiting posting after promotion but no one was picked from the list. “We speculate that they are not offering promotion because of financial concerns,” he said.

The association had made representations to Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo but was yet to get a favourable response. “By delaying the process, they are burdening officials,” he said.
