A group of residents from Thatchanallur near Tirunelveli Junction have appealed to the Corporation to drain drinking water overflowing from a public tap and stagnating on road.

The petitioners, who submitted a petition to Corporation Commissioner S. Sivasubramanian on Tuesday, said the water flowing from the public drinking water tap opposite Thangamman Temple at Thatchanallur formed a pool on the highway and was causing untold hardship to the road-users every day.

The Corporation should also take steps for ensuring regular supply of water to Thangamman Temple, the petitioner appealed.

“Implement UG drainage scheme”

A group of residents from Thirunagar submitted a petition seeking early implementation of the underground drainage scheme in their area. They said the sewage water stagnating at several places in this residential area having 312 houses could not be cleared by three sanitary workers deputed for this vast area.

Hence, the Corporation should deputy sanitary workers in adequate number, they demanded.

They also sought formation of steel wire fencing around the children’s park to protect the play equipment there from being damaged by miscreants.

Moreover, steps should be taken to distribute drinking water to residents of Mahizhchi Nagar and Canara Bank Colony every day, they said.
