Three people, including a mother and her son, who were visiting India from Malaysia, were killed in an accident on the Palani to Kodaikanal Road on Saturday.

Police sources said that C. Easwari, 40, residing in Kuala Lumpur where her husband runs a business, was visiting Palani with her three sons and two daughters. On Saturday, the family, accompanied by a guide named Rajesh, visited the Dhandayuthapani Swami Temple in Palani and were later proceeding in a hired car to Varathamanathi dam.

When the car was near a bridge on the Varattar river, it lost control and met with an accident. Easwari, her elder son Sanjay, 15, and driver of the car Balakrishnan died on the spot. Rajesh and Easwari’s younger son Palani, sustained injuries.
