A 15-member gang ransacked a TASMAC shop at Uppathu Odai area, on the outskirts of Thadikombu, and destroyed IMFL liquor bottles on Friday.

The gang barged into the shop, threatened the sales personnel and destroyed the goods.

The gang members threw cartons containing liquor bottles on the floor in front of the shop.

The police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

A case has been registered in this connection.

Road blocked

Residents of Padma Nagar picketed National Highway-7 near the Collectorate in protest against the opening of a TASMAC shop in their residential area.

Similarly, residents of R.M. Colony laid a siege to the TASMAC shop near Seventh Cross Road demanding its closure.

Ten persons were arrested in this connection.
