Recruitment of Grade II police constables, jail warders and firemen posts organised by the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Service Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) began on Wednesday.

A total of 3,653 candidates, including 1,005 women, will take part in the physical measurement test and physical endurance test to be held for four days from Wednesday. The last day will be for women candidates.

After measuring the height and chest of the candidates, the male candidates will run a 1,500-metre race. The female candidates will run a 400-metre race.

Men selected in the first phase will be called for a physical efficiency test in which they will take part in a 100-metre or 400-metre race, high jump or long jump and rope climbing. The physical efficiency test for women is a 100-metre or 200-metre race, cricket ball throw or shot put and long jump or high jump.

Candidates who clear the physical efficiency test will be called for certificate verification.

Madurai Range Deputy Inspector General of Police, Z. Annie Vijaya, who is the chairman of the recruitment process and Madurai Superintendent of Police, N. Manivannan participated in the recruitment drive.

Madurai City Commissioner of Police, S. Davidson Devasirvatham, who is the super check officer for the process inspected the Armed Reserve ground where the recruitment process is under-way.

In Virudhunagar district, 2,224 candidates, including 645 women, will take part in the recruitment organised by TNUSRB, Virudhunagar SP M. Rajarajan said.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (Training) Satyapriya is the chairman of the recruitment process and Inspector General of Police (South Zone) K. P. Shanmuga Rajeswaran is the super check officer.
