Taekwondo: student eyes Guinness record

C. Abishiek Prabhu attempted his third Guinness World Record and first High Range Book of World Record by breaking 100 tiles in one minute through back-kicking style of taekwondo at Dr. M.G.R Stadium on Race Course Road here on Saturday.

This 21-year old student studying Information Technology at Thiagarajar College of Engineering here said, “While practising, initially it took one minute and thirty seconds. I gradually brought it to a minute.” He had been training this Korean martial art form for three years now at Madurai Taekwondo Academy. A kukkiwon black belt holder, he trains youngsters even while practising for four hours every day under the watchful eyes of trainer and master N. Narayanan.

M. Solai Raja, vice-president, Tamil Nadu Olympic Association, was the chief guest.
