Stating that anti-incumbency factor played a role in the just declared Assembly elections of five States, DMK working president M. K. Stalin said on Saturday that a similar situation would prevail in Tamil Nadu as well.
Mr. Stalin who was here to participate in the Indian Union Muslim League’s conference, urged the participants to extend support to the DMK for the ensuing by-poll in RK Nagar Assembly constituency.
The IUML conference was organised under the theme of protecting the rights of the minorities. K. M. Kader Mohideen, general secretary of IUML presided over the conference.
During the conference some resolutions were passed which included the need to exempt Tamil Nadu from the National Eligibility Entrance Test and drafting a new water management policy to protect Tamirabarani river.
Other resolutions included freeing of prisoners who were languishing for over 14 years in jail, ten percent reservation for Muslims in Central government jobs and also in the education sector. The State government should also include Urdu and Arabic languages for takers of State Level Eligibility Test, another resolution said. S. Thirunavukarasu, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president also took part in the conference, sources said.
