The district-level sports competitions were held for differently-abled persons at Anna stadium on Wednesday.

As many as 19 differently-abled persons participated in the sports meet.

They were divided into four categories including blind, deaf and dumb, physically handicapped and mentally-ill persons. Collector S. Madumathi distributed the prizes.

The Collector said that such kind of sport meets were being organised to give a chance to the differently-abled persons to express their hidden talents. They could prove that they were second to none and conducting such meets would definitely motivate them in future and instil confidence in their minds.

District Sport Officer P. Sivakumar, District Rehabilitation Officer M. George, Tamil Nadu Special Bharat Olympic Co-ordinator Jacob participated.
