Virudhunagar Superintendent of Police M. Rajarajan presenting a gift to two traders who handed over to the police a bag containing ₹. 72656 that was lying on the road in Srivilliputtur, on Monday.

Two small traders – S. Mohammed Rizwan and N. Abdul – displayed what honesty meant in day-to-day life.

The traders from Nandavanapatti, who run readymade garments shops on Nethaji Road, while returning home on Saturday night found a bag lying on the road.

Upon opening it, they found a few keys and ₹. 72, 656 inside it. Without a second thought, the duo proceeded straight to the Srivilliputtur Town police station and handed over the bag along with the cash at around 11 p.m.

Within a few minutes, Karuppiah, a salesman at a sweet shop located near the Srivilliputtur bus stand came anxiously to lodge a complaint of a missing bag containing cash.

During enquiry, the police found that the bag brought by the traders belonged to Karuppiah. Karuppiah profusely thanked Mr. Rizwan and Abdullah.

On Monday, the Superintendent of Police, M. Rajarajan, invited the two traders to his office and appreciated them for their honesty. He also presented them with gifts as a mark of appreciation.
