Hysteroscopy Metroplasty, a first of its kind surgery for the State, was performed at Guru Hospital here recently.

Addressing a press meet, B. Kalpana, Consultant, Gynaecology and Fertility, at the hospital said that diagnosis of a 23-year-old woman with a two-year history of infertility revealed that she had two uterine cavities.

“The woman came to us after her husband left her citing her infertility as an issue. After a thorough examination and consultation with a team of doctors, we performed a surgery where the uterus and cervix was unified,” she said. Dr. Kalpana added that such a genital anomaly of having two uterine cavities would generally be symptomless.
