Plea against teachers in CSI councils

A writ petition has been filed in the Madras High Court Bench here accusing many teaching and non-teaching staff of government-aided schools of holding administrative posts in various councils under the Church of South India (CSI) Diocese of Madurai-Ramnad.

Julius Jawahar Devakandan, a member of CSI Cathedral at Narimedu here, filed the petition seeking a direction to the State government to initiate against such persons under the Tamil Nadu Government Servants Conduct Rules which prohibit membership in religious organisations.
