The murder of a woman, V. Suseela (50) inside a spinning mill near Sattur on May 28, from where her four-sovereign gold chain was missing, looked like a murder not only for just gold, according to a fact-finding team.
The fact-finding team of a Tirunelveli-based NGO, Vaan Muhil, has claimed that the ghastly murder in which the face of the deceased was hit with a cooking gas cylinder only raised the suspicion over the motive.
The NGO that has been working for the betterment of women working in spinning mills said that the high compound wall in the mill would rule out the possibility of any outsider coming into the premises to murder her for robbing the gold chain, a statement from the NGO said.
Stating that the woman, a divorcee, had the habit of saving her monthly salary, the statement said someone working in the mill could have murdered her for the money.
Besides, the woman also had the habit of lending money to co-workers, it also said.
Strict implementation
The Department of Labour should strictly implement its regulation of maintaining separate registers -- for salary disbursement, accident, attendance and in and out timing of workers.
The NGO has also sought a thorough investigation by the Virudhunagar police to bring the culprit to book.
The fact-finding team members are Vaan Muhil’s project manager M. Ponnusamy, its two coordinators S. Parmeswaran and P. Ganapathy and its director M. Britto.
