Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated 12 new buildings at Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital (TVMCH), constructed at a cost of ₹62.35 crore, through video conference from Chennai on Thursday.

Gnanathiraviam, Palayamkottai MLA M. Abdul Wahab and Dean, TVMCH, M. Ravichandran were present on the occasion.

At Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital (TKMCH), Mr. Stalin inaugurated a hybrid intensive care unit with modern medical facilities, established at a cost of ₹96 crore, in the presence of Collector K. Senthil Raj, Mayor Jegan Periyasamy, Dean, TKMCH, Nehru, Resident Medical Officer Silas Jayamani and others.

The newly inaugurated facility, which will be monitored by well-trained nurses round-the-clock from the central monitoring nursing stations, has 20 beds for seriously ill patients and another 12 beds for paediatric care. “Since vital health parameters of all these 32 patients can be monitored from the nursing stations, there is no need for the nurses to sit by the side of the patients,” said Dr. Nehru.
