The new Commissioner of Police for Madurai City, Shailesh Kumar Yadav, is mulling introduction WhatsApp application to receive suggestions and complaints from the residents.

Taking charge from Sanjay Mathur, who has been transferred as Commissioner of Police, Tiruchi, on Sunday, Mr Yadav said he had tried this in Tiruchi and was successful.

“A special software is used to keep the identity of the complainant confidential so that the officers receive only the content of the complaint and not their identity,” he said.

On the expansion of the city limits, he said training would be given to the police personnel who had newly joined the city police strength to work on the city police pattern.

“We know that the expectation among the people who have come under the city police limits would be high.

The police will be trained to respond to calls from the people within the minimum time,” he said.

An IPS officer of the 1993 batch, Mr Yadav has worked in the South Zone in various capacities like Assistant Superintendent of Police, SP and Deputy Inspector General of Police.
