A new block for students from classes 6 to 12, worth ₹1.75 crore, will be inaugurated on June 15 on St. Mary's Higher Secondary School campus at Balerangapuram here.

The complex is sponsored by S. Xavier Britto, Chairman, Kerry Indev Logistics, as part of Corporate Social Responsibility. Mr. Britto has dedicated the complex on behalf of his brothers, who were alumni of the school.

On Saturday, the alumni of the school will felicitate 50 student beneficiaries under the project ‘Vision Ignatius.’

Through this project, the alumni will ‘adopt students’ and sponsor ₹2000 for each student, covering their tuition and uniform fee. A student who are either an orphan or has been abandoned by parents will be eligible under the project.

“Our school has a vibrant alumni association. The alumni give back what they learnt from the school,” says Fr. Stephen, correspondent of the school.

“This is the first year the funds are channelised through the alumni association. We are aiming to increase the number of beneficiaries to 150 over the next two years,” says N. Jegatheesan, president, St. Mary's Alumni Association.

Ishari K Ganesh, Chairman, Vels Group of Institute, K.T. Srinivasa Raja, Managing Director, Adyar Anandha Bhavan Sweets India, will be the guests of honour for the event.
