Manonmaniam Sundaranar University offers postgraduate programme in data analytics and cyber security.
In a statement, Registrar S. Santhosh Baboo said data analytics would open up lucrative job opportunities as about 68% of job opportunities in IT firms were grabbed by experts in this field. Equally trending was the evergreen domain of Cyber Security.
With this in mind, the Centre for Information Technology and Engineering of the university offered M.Sc. in Data Analytics and Cyber Security and M.Sc. Information Technology with affordable tuition fee to equip students in this region with skills and expertise for the IT industry, Mr. Santhosh said.
According to N. Krishnan, Head of the Centre, data analytics was a promising field that would rule the IT industry for the next 20 years. It was an amalgamation of Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, Computer Science and Business Analysis. This course would be a boon for candidates with B.Sc. Mathematics and B.Sc. Statistics, who will find themselves advantageously placed as knowledge of Mathematics and Statistics were essential to master Data Analytics.
An entry level Software Engineer in the core companies would earn ₹3.5 lakh per annum whereas an Entry Level Data Analyst or Data Engineer will earn a minimum of ₹6 lakh in Data Analytics Companies.
Those who wish to join M.Sc. Data Analytics should have undergraduate or postgraduate degree in science or engineering or management (BBA /MBA) or commerce or finance or economics or econometrics from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University or any other Indian university or equivalent in any one of the following disciplines such as Statistics, Mathematics, Business Administration, Information Technology, Information Technology and E-Commerce, Computer Science, Computer Applications or any other discipline with Statistics / Mathematics or Commerce / Finance with Applications of Statistics / Mathematics / Computer / IT as a subject.
