More than 2,500 to appear for police recruitment

A total of 2,586 candidates – 2,030 men and 556 women – who had applied for Grade II Police Constables, Jail Warders and Firemen and have cleared the written examinations conducted by the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, are expected to appear for the physical efficiency test here on Wednesday.

The three-phase recruitment process would begin with Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Endurance Test (ET) from November 6 to 8, Superintendent of Police Omprakash Meena, who is Member (I) of the recruitment board, said.

The tests would be held under the supervision of S. Murugan, Inspector General of Police, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), who is the Super Check officer and Deputy Inspector of Police (Ramanathapuram range) Rupesh Kumar Meena who is the Chairman, he said.

A total of 1,119 men and 309 women from Ramanathapuram district and 911 men and 247 women from Sivaganga are expected to appear for the tests at Seethakathi Sethupathy Sports Stadium here, he said.

On November 6, men from Ramanathapuram district would take the PMT and ET, followed by men from Sivaganga district on November 7 and women from the two districts on November 8, he said. In the ET, men would run 1,500 m and women 400 m races.

Those short listed in the PMT and ET would take Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

The men would have option to select 100 m or 400 m race, long jump or high jump and mandatory rope climbing, he said. Women would have an option to select 100 m or 200 m race, cricket ball throw or shot put and long jump or high jump, he added.

The PET for men would he held on November 9 and for women on November 10, he said.

Certificate verification would be held on November 11 in the third and final phase of the recruitment process, he added. Candidates should report at the stadium at 5 a.m. and they should not leave the stadium without permission. Mobile phones were strictly prohibited, he said.
