Man held for sexual abuse of minor girl in Madurai

In a shocking incident, a case of sexual abuse of a minor girl has been reported at the All Woman Police Station here on Sunday.

According to preliminary probe, Babu’s daughter was allegedly abused by a 50-year-old man a week ago. Marichami (50), an iron and steel scrap merchant, was having his shop at Thevar Nagar, Jaihindpuram. Babu’s wife Dilshath Begum and her daughter were employed in his shop. On September 2, Marichami had sent out Dilshath to buy tea and after she left misbehaved with the teenaged girl while showing a video clip from his handphone.

The girl, who fell sick the following day, complained of uneasiness. On learning about what happened at the shop, her family members informed the same at the Towheeth Jamaath and it was decided to lodge a complaint with the police.

Marichami was arrested, produced before the Judicial Magistrate and lodged in Madurai Central Prison. The victim has been admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital.
