The district administration has proposed to conduct Kurinji (flower)-Kodai festival in a grand scale in Kodaikanal during August.

The flower, which blossoms once in 12 years in Kodaikanal, Yercaud and Nilgiris would be showcased to the visiting tourists.

Presiding over a meeting, District Collector T.G. Vinay said that the significance of kurinji flowers would be taken to the people through innovative means. Huge boards would be put up at Palani and Batlagundu, which would draw attention of the people to visit Kodaikanal and have a glimpse of the flowers.

This year, the Department of Tourism, in association with the Horticulture team and NGOs would identify spots in Kodaikanal where kurinji flowers have bloomed and take tourists to these spots on a conducted tour. The Collector, who visited the Coakers Walk, was excited to see the blooming kurinji flowers.
