Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, on Thursday, inaugurated through video conferencing the new building of Koodal Pudur police station at Anaiyur.
The station, which was functioning on a rented building, has moved to the new building behind Anaiyur bus stand. It has come up on a total plinth area of 3,500 square feet, including the ground floor and first floor. The cost of the building, including borewell, is ₹72.5 lakh.
Commissioner of Police S. Davidson Devasirvatham and senior police officials were present. Besides separate rooms for the Inspector of Police and Sub-Inspectors, the building has two lock ups - one for men and another for women.
It also houses an armoury, records room and meeting hall. A ramp to enable physically challenged persons haver access to the police station has also been constructed, according to Assistant Executive Engineer, Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation, S. Venkatachalapathy.
New buildings for Karimedu and Teppakulam police stations are in the pipeline. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police N. Manivannan inaugurated a badminton court at the District Police Office.
