In a grand celebration of the rich legacy of the legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan and to commemorate his 90th birth anniversary year and 60 years of his classic movie ‘Veerapandiya Kattabomman’, a mega event was organised by Hindu Tamil Thisai in Madurai on Saturday.

In a grand celebration of the rich legacy of the legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan and to commemorate his 90th birth anniversary year and 60 years of his classic movie ‘Veerapandiya Kattabomman’, a mega event was organised by Hindu Tamil Thisai , where eminent personalities from the world of cinema, literature and theatre shared their experiences of working and knowing Sivaji Ganesan.

The event offered a wide range of audiences, an entertaining and emotional recap of the actor’s days of glory on the silver screen through audio-visual clippings and significant scenes from Sivaji’s classic movies, so much that the Raja Muthiah Mandram was charged with euphoria of Sivaji fans.

“Sivaji is an ocean of acting and theatrical skills. No one can ever match his excellence and larger-than-life screen presence. He was among the few Indian actors who got a global recognition,” said actor and writer Vela Ramamoorthy, a die-hard fan of the actor.

“Despite being such an exemplary actor and having achieved such great heights in the field, Sivaji Ganesan was an epitome of humility and simplicity. He never had any airs and would move around in a convivial manner with everyone on and off movie sets,” said P. Thangappan, General Secretary of Indo-Russia Chamber of Commerce.

Marudhu Mohan, who did a seven-year research on Sivaji and his school of acting, explained the various nuances of Sivaji’s enviable acting skills and the making of the movie ‘Veerapandiya Kattabomman.’

Ramkumar Ganesan, the eldest son of actor Sivaji Ganesan, said that he is first a fan to the actor. “It is my responsibility to spread his fame across the world. I am overwhelmed seeing the fandom he continues to enjoy even after so many years,” he said and urged Sivaji’s fans to plant trees in his memory and work towards the betterment of the environment.

V.N.C.T. Valliappan, MD, Kamala Cinemas, Nagarajan, Secretary, All India Sivaji Fans Association, Chandrasekar, president, Sivaji Fine Arts and Gunasekaran, Soorya Movies Madurai, also shared their experiences.

The Editor of Hindu Tamil Thisai K. Asokan and organising team heads were present.

The celebration partners for the event were Sri Kaliswari College, Sri Kaliswari Fireworks and Velammal Bodhi Campus.
