Over 130 sovereigns stolen from locked home

Unidentified robbers decamped with over 130 sovereigns of gold jewels and other valuables from a locked home at Avaniapuram.

The crime came to light when the house owner Rajendran returned home on Friday.

Police said Rajendran, who lived in a residential apartment on Avaniapuram Main Road had been to his relatives’ house with his family two days ago. He is a businessman engaged in manufacturing furniture and selling it to showrooms in Kerala and other States.

On return, he was shocked to see the front door lock broken. The family members who stepped in found the almirah locks too were broken and the valuables missing. Avaniapuram police have registered a case.
