After the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court was informed on Tuesday that the body of Manivasakam, one of the Maoists killed in an encounter in Kerala was identified, the court directed the relatives to make arrangements to get the body.

The court was hearing a petition filed by S. Anbarasan from Namakkal district, a relative of Manivasakam, who sought parole for Chandra, sister, and Kala, wife of Manivasakam, so that they could attend the final rites. The duo are currently lodged in Tiruchi Central Prison.

Taking cognisance of the fact that the case filed by the relatives before a Kerala court was closed, a Division Bench of Justices S. Vaidyanathan and N. Anand Venkatesh observed that the plea for parole could be taken up for hearing on November 6.

Till then the relatives could make arrangements to take the body to Salem, the native place of Manivasakam, for funeral. The Salem Superintendent of Police should provide necessary protection to maintain law and order, the court said.
