Collector S. Madumathi flagged off a mini marathon on the occasion of 58th All India Co-operative week celebrated on Wednesday.
The mini marathon that started from Parvathipuram ended at Sethu Lakshmi Bai Higher Secondary School at Nagercoil.
The Regional Joint-Registrar of Co-operatives, T. Prabu, has assured that adequate financial assistance would be given to various self help groups to undertake economic activities so that they could be independent.

Nobody could deny that, thanks to the members of various self help groups, the co-operative societies grew and it created awareness among the villagers about the need for such a movement for their economic growth.
The co-operative societies were very liberal in extending a helping hand to the self help group members.
The co-operative societies came forward to extend agriculture loan to farmers without interest for those who repaid the loan properly without any dues.
Use schemes
Hence he sought the co-operation of people to make use of various welfare assistances launched by the co-operative societies for their growth and economic development of villagers particularly women.
