MADURAI

A Division Bench of Justices T. Raja and Krishnan Ramasamy of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Monday imposed a cost of ₹10,000 on a petitioner, payable to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF). The court was hearing the case of K. Pandi of Sivagangai district.

The cost was imposed after it was ascertained that the petitioner, who sought a direction for re-survey of a patta land in Sivagangai district, himself had encroached on the land to an extent of 0.30 acre. The court directed the petitioner to pay the cost within two weeks and posted the case for compliance to September 11.
