The Madras High Court Bench here on Friday appointed a committee headed by a woman judge, presiding over First Additional District Court here, to inspect Mose Ministries Children’s Home at Subramaniapuram in Tiruchi and ascertain the veracity of the allegations that it had lodged around 89 girl children without any authorisation.
A Division Bench of Justices V. Ramasubramanian and N. Kirubakaran also directed the Tiruchi District Social Welfare Officer and the chairman of Child Welfare Committee to be a part of the committee which was ordered to inspect the home on Saturday and Sunday and verify all aspects, including infrastructural facilities available there.
Interim orders
The interim orders were passed on a public interest litigation petition filed by Change India, a non-governmental organisation represented by its director A. Narayanan.
Unregistered
The petitioner had accused the two-decade-old unregistered home of having picked up its inmates from Usilampatti near here and various other places without informing government authorities.
