Collector Ashish Kumar paid a surprise visit to a primary health centre at Vepalodai under Ottapidaram panchayat union and inspected the existing facilities at the centre on Wednesday. He verified the attendance register to know whether the health care professionals were present.

Mr. Kumar also visited the laboratory and sought details about medical examinations and check-ups on patients for various diseases including tuberculosis.

The Collector asked the staff to promptly register the observations after examining pregnant women.

Scanning was done on each and every pregnant woman once in three months and results were disclosed to patients.

The same procedure should also be adopted for out-patients. Mr. Kumar also took stock of amenities at maternity ward and post natal ward, subsequently. He also enquired with the staff about facilities being provided to patients, who had been taking siddha medicine. Seating arrangements in the out-patient ward had to be increased. Mr. Kumar advised the staff to maintain cleanliness.
