Collector T. S. Rajasekar on Tuesday inspected arrangements being made for Adi Amavasai at Sundaramahalingam Temple on Sathuragiri hills on July 31, that will attract thousands of devotees.

In a statement, the Collector inspected the route through Thaniparai and said free bus services would be available for devotees from Thaniparai up to the foothills. Free parking lots for two-wheelers, autorickshaws and cars would be arranged. Drinking water and proper toilet facilities had also been provided at Thaniparai, the statement said.

Forest department officials would prevent devotees from carrying plastic bags. Mr. Rajasekar also said special focus would be given to ensuring prevention of casualties on narrow pathways between July 27 and August 1.

The Collector announced that 30 medical teams would be deployed to meet any medical emergencies.
